OS command injection in Fortra BoKS Manager 8.1.0.0 through 8.1.0.22 and 9.0.0.0 through 9.0.0.4 allows remote attackers to execute commands. The boks_upgrade_upgrade and boks_upgrade_patch modules use version data supplied by a legacy tar-installed client during upgrade or patch handling without safely neutralizing shell command elements. Exploitation requires a malicious or compromised legacy tar-installed client to be selected for an operator-initiated upgrade or patch, and commands run on the BoKS Master.
