CVE-2026-98617

Freed-state access via incorrect receive-queue NAPI lookup

Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026

Incorrect NAPI lookup in the Linux 6.18 fbnic driver allows attackers to cause unspecified impact during receive-queue management. Queue callbacks derive the NAPI vector by modulo indexing, selecting transmit vectors when standalone transmit vectors precede receive vectors; fbnic_queue_mem_alloc() also accesses freed rings and vectors after a failed PCIe recovery. The latter requires a queue restart after datapath teardown while netif_running() remains true; attacker privileges and a specific security consequence are not disclosed.
