CVE-2026-98614Public exploitHinoki check available

CPU stall via unchecked retransmit-path loop

Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026

Livelock in Linux SCTP allows local users to stall a CPU via crafted address-removal messages in an SCTP association. In net/sctp/associola.c, sctp_assoc_update_retran_path() skips unconfirmed transports before testing whether traversal has wrapped around, preventing termination when every remaining transport is unconfirmed. The published local reproducer requires unprivileged user namespaces and enables ASCONF without authentication; the documented consequence is a CPU stall.
