Out-of-bounds read via omitted receive overhead
Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026
Length validation in the Linux sr9700 driver allows attackers to read beyond received data via malformed USB receive buffers. The sr9700_rx_fixup function compares the CRC-adjusted payload length against the entire remaining buffer, omitting the three-byte header and four-byte CRC before copying and advancing. Reaching the flaw requires malformed receive data from a device handled by this driver; ordinary network-packet exploitability, a crash, and privilege escalation are not established.
