Reference leaks via IPv6 route-classification race
Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026
A race in Linux 6.11 IPv6 routing allows attackers to leak kernel references via concurrent route lookup and device removal. ip6_route_output_flags() and ip6_rt_put_flags() misclassify uncached routes after concurrent list removal, incorrectly retaining destination references and skipping their release. The race requires IPv6 route processing during device unregistration and retains associated device references; attacker privileges and any resulting crash or hang are undocumented.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
