Extra packet lookups via stale UDP hash entries
Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026
Stale UDP hash entries in Linux 6.13 allow local users to force extra packet lookups by disconnecting explicitly bound sockets. In net/ipv4/udp.c, __udp_disconnect() skips both removal paths for sockets bound to a specific address and port, leaving their entries counted until closure. This adds lookup overhead rather than a documented crash; IPv6 datagrams from the former peer with source port zero also match the stale entry.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
