Kernel crash via unchecked debug-area copy
Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026
NULL dereference in Linux s390 debug handling allows local users to crash the kernel by opening a failed debug area's view. After debug_register_static() clears area pointers but retains their bounds, debug_info_copy() loops over those bounds without checking whether the source areas exist. The trigger requires a prior registration failure and access to the affected view file or a kernel caller of debug_dump(); required privileges are not specified.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
