Verifier bypass via sign-extended socket queue mapping
Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026
Incorrect BPF code generation in Linux allows local users to bypass verifier value bounds through socket receive-queue mapping reads. In net/core/filter.c, bpf_sock_convert_ctx_access emits a 64-bit move of -1 for rx_queue_mapping, setting upper bits that the verifier assumes are zero. Reaching the flaw requires permission to load and run a BPF program; the published report does not establish a crash or privilege escalation.
