Stack disclosure via uninitialized netlink response bytes
Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026
Stack disclosure in Linux em_text_dump() allows local users to read uninitialized kernel bytes through netlink filter dumps. The function leaves trailing conf.algo[] bytes uninitialized after strscpy(), then nla_put_nohdr() copies the entire structure into the response. Exposure requires dumping a configured text match through local netlink; sensitive-data disclosure on production kernels remains unestablished.
