Out-of-bounds reads via unchecked NFC frame boundaries
Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026
Out-of-bounds reads in the Linux ST21NFCA I2C driver allow attackers to read beyond received frames via malformed input. st21nfca_hci_i2c_repack() truncates at EOF without preserving enough header and CRC bytes and reads after an escape marker without checking that another byte remains. Triggering requires malformed controller frames to reach this driver over I2C; attacker control of that transport and consequences beyond boundary reads are not established.
