Kernel-memory corruption via stale traffic-class indexing
Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026
Out-of-bounds writes in Linux XPS allow local users to corrupt kernel memory through transmit-queue configuration changes. After the traffic-class count decreases, __netif_set_xps_queue() accepts a stale class index and writes beyond an allocation sized for the remaining classes. Reaching the flaw requires access to change traffic classes and write XPS queue mappings; the published diagnostic demonstrates an allocation overrun, not privilege escalation.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
