Memory corruption via unchecked firmware reconstruction count
Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026
Out-of-bounds access in Linux's drm/imagination driver allows attackers to corrupt kernel memory via oversized firmware requests. The pvr_free_list_process_reconstruct_req function trusts the firmware's freelist count when indexing request IDs and copying them into a fixed response array. Exposure requires the affected PowerVR driver and an oversized firmware reconstruction request; attacker control of that request and specific crash or privilege-escalation outcomes are not established publicly.
