Unspecified impact via IPsec state reference race
Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026
A race in Linux NFP IPsec receive processing allows attackers to cause unspecified impact via concurrent state deletion. The nfp_net_ipsec_rx() function releases the XArray lock before acquiring an xfrm_state reference, allowing deletion to reduce its reference count to zero first. Reachability requires NFP IPsec offload receive processing overlapping state deletion; the public patch report documents no hardware reproduction or demonstrated crash, disclosure, or privilege escalation.
