CVE-2026-98532Hinoki check available

Memory corruption via unchecked IPv6 extension-header lengths

Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026

Out-of-bounds access in Linux IPv6 parsing allows attackers to corrupt kernel memory through malformed extension-header lengths. The ipv6_find_hdr() function advances past declared extension-header lengths without checking the packet boundary, and Open vSwitch uses the resulting offset for out-of-bounds transport-checksum reads and writes. The documented trigger requires the Open vSwitch IPv6 address-rewrite path; the disclosure establishes invalid kernel-memory access, not privilege escalation or controlled code execution.
