Kernel hang via stale GPU reset mappings
Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026
Use-after-free in Linux 7.2 amdkfd allows local users to hang the kernel during GPU reset after a container releases its inode. kfd_dev_mapping retains the first opener's freed address_space and omits later containers' mappings from unmap_mapping_range(). The failure requires /dev/kfd access and SR-IOV with multiple containers; stale mappings also risk PCIe timeouts and kernel panics.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
