CVE-2026-98510

Kernel crash via premature page-table destruction

Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026

A teardown race in the Linux Xe GPU driver allows local users to cause a kernel crash via concurrent buffer-object eviction. xe_vm_close_and_put() destroys page tables before unlinking contested external-buffer mappings, leaving xe_pt_zap_ptes() to dereference a NULL page-table root during eviction. Reachability requires access to the Xe driver, fault mode, and concurrent eviction of a shared buffer object; the documented consequence is a NULL dereference, not code execution.
