Use-after-free via shared conntrack extension updates
Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026
Use-after-free in Linux Open vSwitch conntrack allows attackers to access freed memory via cloned-packet connection commits. The __ovs_ct_lookup path permits extension changes on a shared unconfirmed connection entry, invalidating a helper expectation pointer later used during destruction. Triggering requires both clones to commit different extension sets in the same zone after confirmation fails; upstream identifies no practical pipeline requiring this sequence and establishes no broader exploitation impact.
