CPU hang via unchecked transmit-consumer index
Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026
An infinite loop in the Linux atl1c driver allows attackers to hang a CPU through an invalid hardware transmit-consumer index. The atl1c_clean_tx function accepts an out-of-range tpd_cons value during PCIe link or MAC reset and loops toward an unreachable index. Reproduction involved AR8151 v2.0 NICs and rebooting a directly connected peer; attacker-controlled triggering is not established.
