Data corruption via unchecked iSCSI Data-In direction
Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026
Data corruption in Linux libiscsi_tcp allows remote attackers to overwrite write buffers via crafted iSCSI Data-In responses. The Data-In branch of iscsi_tcp_hdr_dissect() copies received data into a command's scatterlist without verifying that the command reads from the device. Exploitation requires control of responses from a connected iSCSI target during a write, corrupting pinned application buffers or page-cache contents while write operations report success.
