Socket disconnection via unbalanced parent hold
Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026
Reference mismanagement in Linux Bluetooth ISO allows attackers to disconnect an active socket via additional BIS connections. The hci_bind_bis() function links a parent obtained from hci_conn_hash_lookup_big() without acquiring an operational hold, so child unlinking drops the active parent's existing hold. This requires an additional Broadcast Isochronous Stream sharing a parent connection; the documented consequence is premature disconnection, with attacker privileges and remote reachability unspecified.
