CVE-2026-98346

Kernel crash via null netdev radio-mask lookup

Published Oct 6, 2026 · Updated Oct 6, 2026

A null-pointer dereference in the Linux kernel's cfg80211 Wi-Fi subsystem allows attackers to crash the kernel during IBSS setup. In cfg80211_calculate_bi_data(), a radio-mask lookup passes wdev->netdev to mac80211 before excluding non-beaconing interfaces whose netdev can be null. The published fault occurred during IBSS creation under UID 0; neither remote Wi-Fi triggering nor unprivileged reachability is established.
