Stale kernel read via DMA channel teardown
Published Oct 6, 2026 · Updated Oct 6, 2026
Use-after-free in Linux kernel DMAEngine allows attackers to trigger a stale read during DMA channel teardown via unspecified vectors. In dma_chan_put(), dma_device_put() can free the DMA device and its channels before dma_chan_to_owner() reads chan->device->owner for module_put(). The reported trace occurs during module insertion; the CNA record does not establish an unprivileged trigger or an outcome beyond the invalid kernel read.
