Kernel warnings via unchecked TDLS peer identity
Published Oct 6, 2026 · Updated Oct 6, 2026
Improper TDLS peer validation in the mac80211 wireless stack in Linux 3.2 through 7.2.7 allows local users to trigger kernel warnings via TDLS operations. The ieee80211_tdls_oper path fails to verify a station's TDLS flag before TDLS-specific handling, allowing an AP station to be treated as a peer. Triggering this path requires access to TDLS control operations on a mac80211 wireless interface; the documented effect is warnings when the AP station is removed, not a confirmed system crash.
