Out-of-bounds descriptor access via double-counted DMA entries
Published Oct 6, 2026 · Updated Oct 6, 2026
A descriptor-count error in the PXA DMA driver in Linux 7.0 allows attackers to reach unallocated descriptor entries during DMA operations. In pxad_alloc_desc(), kzalloc_flex() initializes nb_desc on compilers supporting __builtin_counted_by_ref(), but the allocation loop increments it again; pxad_free_desc() and set_updater_desc() then use the inflated count. The condition requires an enabled PXA/MMP DMA driver and a compiler with that builtin; the upstream patch documents no remotely reachable trigger.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
