Kernel memory corruption via fragmented header copy
Published Oct 6, 2026 · Updated Oct 6, 2026
An out-of-bounds write in the Linux kernel Soft-iWARP receiver allows remote attackers to corrupt receive state through fragmented DDP/RDMAP headers. In siw_get_hdr(), a later TCP callback limits its copy by the extended header length minus the minimum header, rather than by the bytes still missing; the copy overwrites fpdu_part_rcvd, which can then become a negative offset for another write. The path requires a Soft-iWARP connection and a header split across TCP callbacks; the published patch does not establish code execution or a specific service-failure outcome.
