Silent reboot via idle push on disabled link
Published Oct 6, 2026 · Updated Oct 6, 2026
A disable-path flaw in the Linux kernel's Qualcomm DisplayPort driver allows attackers to reboot affected Snapdragon systems after failed link training. msm_dp_display_atomic_disable() pushes an idle pattern despite power_on being false, then teardown drops runtime power without shutting down the PHY. The demonstrated reset requires failed eDP link training on Snapdragon X2 Elite hardware followed by display disable; remote reachability is not shown.
