DMA over-reads and data loss via reused length
Published Oct 6, 2026 · Updated Oct 6, 2026
DMA transfer corruption in the Linux MMP PDMA driver from 3.7 allows context-dependent attackers to trigger out-of-bounds reads or data loss. In mmp_pdma_prep_slave_sg(), the scatterlist loop reads each segment's DMA length from the list head rather than the current entry, so later segments inherit the first segment's length. The faulty path requires the MMP PDMA driver and a multi-segment transfer with unequal segment lengths; no remote trigger or data disclosure is established.
