DMA buffer overflow via unchecked synchronous packet length
Published Oct 6, 2026 · Updated Oct 6, 2026
A buffer overflow in the Intel Bluetooth PCIe driver in affected Linux kernels occurs if an oversized packet reaches send_sync. btintel_pcie_prepare_tx() copies the packet length into a fixed 4096-byte DMA slot without checking that length in the synchronous send path. The existing send_frame caller rejects oversized packets, so the documented overflow depends on another caller reaching send_sync without that check; no current remote trigger is established.
