Kernel crash via Bluetooth coredump use-after-free
Published Oct 6, 2026 · Updated Oct 6, 2026
Use-after-free in Linux Bluetooth coredump handling allows attackers to crash the kernel by unregistering a controller during an active dump. The unregister path leaves dump_timeout and dump_rx work active without an hdev reference, so queued work can access the device after hci_release_dev() frees it. The demonstrated trigger requires local control of an HCI device and an active dump; the published reproducer does not establish an unprivileged or remote attack path.
