Out-of-bounds read via short Bluetooth WMT events
Published Oct 6, 2026 · Updated Oct 6, 2026
Out-of-bounds reads in the Linux Bluetooth btmtksdio and btmtkuart drivers allow attackers to trigger invalid kernel reads via short firmware WMT events. Both drivers cast a received buffer to a WMT event before validating its header length, then read a two-byte FUNC_CTRL status field without checking that it exists. The condition requires affected MediaTek Bluetooth firmware to return a short event; the published record does not establish a crash, data disclosure, or attacker control of the firmware response.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
