Packet-buffer corruption via unchecked PPPoATM header writes
Published Oct 6, 2026 · Updated Oct 6, 2026
Packet-buffer errors in Linux PPPoATM allow attackers to trigger unsafe header writes and reads through bridged PPP channels. The pppoatm_send() LLC path checks headroom without making a shared skb header writable, and it inspects skb->data[0] without first ensuring a byte is present and linear. Exposure requires a PPPoATM channel bridged to another PPP channel; the upstream patch establishes unsafe buffer access but does not document a crash, disclosure, or code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
