CVE-2026-98285

Kernel crash via aborted bridge VLAN deletion

Published Oct 6, 2026 · Updated Oct 6, 2026

Bridge VLAN deletion errors in Linux 4.3 through 7.2.7 allow attackers to interrupt service during switchdev-backed bridge teardown. The __vlan_del function aborts software VLAN cleanup when a switchdev deletion fails, while __vlan_flush still destroys the VLAN group. The path requires a switchdev deletion error during bridge teardown; it can leak VLAN memory, and bridge-flush error reporting can dereference a null port and crash the kernel.
