Hibernation resume hang via missing hypercall arguments
Published Oct 6, 2026 · Updated Oct 6, 2026
Linux arm64 kernel 5.16 can hang during hibernation resume because EL2 exception vectors are not restored correctly. In swsusp_arch_suspend_exit(), the resume hypercall omits HVC_SET_VECTORS and the vector address, leaving EL2 pointed at a temporary page that swsusp_free() releases. The demonstrated hang requires hibernation resume with page poisoning enabled; the published record does not establish an attacker-controlled trigger.
