Per-CPU memory corruption via oversized LSE operations
Published Oct 6, 2026 · Updated Oct 6, 2026
Linux arm64 per-CPU LSE atomics read and write 32-bit memory during 8- and 16-bit operations, altering adjacent kernel data. The _percpu##name##case##sz() and _percpu##name##return_case##sz() assembly omits the size suffix from its LSE instruction. The defect requires an arm64 kernel using LSE atomics for narrow per-CPU operations; the published patch identifies no attacker-controlled entry point or demonstrated exploit.
