Out-of-bounds kernel read via unchecked interface index
Published Oct 6, 2026 · Updated Oct 6, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in the Linux t7xx WWAN driver allows attackers to trigger invalid kernel memory access through malformed modem metadata. The t7xx_ccmni_recv_skb() function uses a five-bit DPMAIF PIT index to read the 21-entry ccmni_inst[] array without checking its bounds, treating adjacent callback-table data as a t7xx_ccmni structure. The path requires a T700 modem delivering a malformed receive descriptor; the published test demonstrates an out-of-bounds dereference and packet queuing, not data disclosure or a confirmed crash.
