Kernel memory corruption via repeated xfrm state deletion
Published Oct 6, 2026 · Updated Oct 6, 2026
Use-after-free in Linux 6.12.13 through 6.12.111 xfrm caches allows attackers to corrupt kernel memory on repeated state deletion. In net/xfrm/xfrm_state.c, __xfrm_state_delete() uses hlist_del_rcu() on state_cache and state_cache_input, leaving a poisoned predecessor that makes a second deletion write through freed memory. Other branches are affected, but the public record does not establish an attacker-controlled trigger or a reliable outcome beyond memory corruption.
