Kernel warning via zeroed shrinker ID
Published Oct 6, 2026 · Updated Oct 6, 2026
A shrinker bounds-check warning in Linux 7.2 allows local users to trigger a kernel warning by faulting a huge page in a memory cgroup. With cgroup.memory=nokmem set, shrinker_memcg_alloc leaves the shrinker ID at zero; __list_lru_init treats it as valid, and set_shrinker_bit encounters an empty map. The condition requires that boot setting and a queued transparent huge page; WARN_ON_ONCE prevents the out-of-bounds read, with no reported crash or data access.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
