Kernel use-after-free via stale pkey pointers
Published Oct 6, 2026 · Updated Oct 6, 2026
Use-after-free in the Linux kernel mlx4 InfiniBand driver exposes device cleanup to stale kobject dereferences after pkey sysfs registration fails. The failed per-slave registration releases pkey parent objects but leaves their pointers stored, so later cleanup passes freed objects to kobject_put(). The path requires mlx4 master-device pkey registration failure followed by cleanup; the public record does not establish attacker control of that failure or a specific outcome beyond the use-after-free.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
