Kernel memory corruption via oversized touchscreen report
Published Oct 6, 2026 · Updated Oct 6, 2026
Buffer overflow in the cyttsp5 touchscreen driver in Linux allows context-dependent attackers to corrupt kernel memory via a crafted HID report. The interrupt handler trusts a device-supplied report length and uses it in memcpy into the fixed-size response_buf without clamping it to CY_MAX_INPUT. The affected driver and a touchscreen supplying an oversized command response must be present; the published patch does not establish code execution or a specific crash outcome.
