Kernel use-after-free via unsynchronized TX timer teardown
Published Oct 6, 2026 · Updated Oct 6, 2026
Use-after-free in the Linux wcn36xx Wi-Fi driver exposes freed kernel state when a TX timer callback overlaps device teardown. The wcn36xx_dxe_deinit() function calls timer_delete(), which does not wait for an executing wcn36xx_dxe_tx_timer() callback before wcn36xx_remove() frees the driver state. The race requires an affected kernel and wcn36xx device during removal; the published record does not establish an attacker-controlled trigger or a specific resulting impact.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
