Kernel memory corruption via oversized SDIO RX transfer
Published Oct 6, 2026 · Updated Oct 6, 2026
An out-of-bounds write in the Linux wilc1000 Wi-Fi driver allows context-dependent attackers to corrupt kernel memory via a bogus SDIO transfer size. In wilc_wlan_handle_isr_ext(), the driver trusts the device-reported length and reads into a 96 KB RX buffer without checking that the transfer fits. Exploitation requires control of the WILC device's reported interrupt status; the published patch does not establish a trigger through ordinary network traffic.
