CVE-2026-98165Hinoki check available

GPU discovery failure via unrestricted BAR0 fallback

Published Oct 6, 2026 · Updated Oct 6, 2026

Improper BAR0 fallback handling in the Linux kernel amdgpu driver disrupts GPU discovery on non-SR-IOV AMD devices with pre-sized BARs. When the normal VRAM aperture is unavailable, amdgpu_device_read_fb_via_bar0() reads through BAR0 without first checking whether the device is an SR-IOV virtual function. A published non-VF Radeon configuration returned invalid IP-discovery data through that path; no attacker-controlled trigger or broader security impact is established.
