Resource exhaustion via leaked tree connections
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Resource leak in Linux ksmbd allows attackers to retain a tree connection when response-buffer pinning fails during SMB2 TREE_CONNECT. smb2_tree_connect registers the new object and increments connection and share counters before ksmbd_iov_pin_rsp runs, but its failure path omits disconnection. The path requires an established SMB session and a response-buffer allocation failure; repeated hits consume server connection resources.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
