Host hang or panic via unchecked response lengths
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
An out-of-bounds read in the Linux kernel QAIC driver allows attackers controlling an AIC100 device to hang or panic the host. In resp_worker(), the orphaned-response transaction loop trusts device-supplied counts and lengths and skips decode_message() bounds checks, so parsing can pass the slab allocation's end. Reachability requires an AIC100 accelerator to send a malformed NNC wire response; the resulting read can also loop indefinitely, with no reported data modification.
