Service interruption via double request cleanup
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Memory-management error in Linux 5.12 allows attackers to interrupt NVMe-over-RDMA I/O via an -EIO request path. In nvme_rdma_queue_rq(), the path-error helper completes the request before outer cleanup again releases the command and unmaps its SQE DMA. Reachability requires the NVMe-over-RDMA initiator path to return -EIO; the duplicate cleanup occurs after completion and can destabilize kernel I/O state.
