Out-of-bounds read via sparse CPU indexing
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in Linux 7.0 allows local users to cause incorrect BPF per-CPU map values on systems with sparse CPU IDs. The array, hash, and cgroup-storage update paths index a densely packed input buffer with logical CPU IDs instead of advancing once per possible CPU. The condition requires noncontiguous possible CPU IDs and an update without BPF_F_CPU or BPF_F_ALL_CPUS; it yields incorrect values and reads beyond the supplied buffer.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
