Local kernel crash via zero-command chain
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in the Linux kernel 7.1 amdxdna driver allows local users to crash the kernel via a zero-command chain. The chain validator accepts command_count zero, leaves the buffer offset at zero, and passes a zero-length buffer to drm_clflush_virt_range, which reads before the allocation into a guard page. Exploitation requires an AMD NPU using the affected command path and access to its render node; triggering the fault interrupts the host kernel.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
