CVE-2026-98144Hinoki check available

Buffer-object reference leak via failed remapping

Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026

Resource leakage in the Linux kernel 7.1 amdxdna NPU driver allows local users to retain buffer-object references via recycled handles. amdxdna_cmd_set_error() acquires a chained buffer object but returns after a failed amdxdna_gem_vmap() call without releasing that reference. Triggering requires submitting a command chain, recycling its handle, and importing a dma-buf without vmap support onto the same identifier; repetition consumes kernel resources.
