Kernel crash via unchecked SAS port allocation
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in Linux 6.1 allows attackers to crash the kernel during SAS port creation after memory allocation fails. mpi3mr_sas_port_add() passes a NULL result from sas_port_alloc_num() to sas_port_add() without checking it and also leaks the allocated port when sas_port_add() fails. Reachability requires the mpi3mr SAS transport path and an allocation failure during port creation; published evidence establishes a kernel crash but no stronger security impact.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
