Kernel memory fault via short coherency data
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Memory-safety flaw in Linux 6.14 allows attackers to trigger an invalid memory read through CacheFiles coherency tracing. The trace_cachefiles_coherency() path treats variable-length, possibly empty cachefiles_xattr data as an eight-byte value and also assumes eight-byte alignment. Reachability requires CacheFiles coherency processing; the documented consequence is a use-after-free or KASAN warning, with no established remote path, privilege gain, or data modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
